On Vision Day 2015, I articulated our prayerful conviction that God has called the Junction Church to be pioneers, not settlers. I mentioned that over the next 10 years, we would become ONE church meeting in different locations – all carrying the same heart, culture and DNA.
To date, our campuses in Loughborough and Leicester are absolutely thriving. If you’ve been recently, you’ll know exactly what I mean! There’s a real sense of momentum. People’s lives are being profoundly impacted by the message of God’s grace. Many more are growing in their faith and getting planted in the house. These are exciting days. But the thing is, we could easily now become settlers. It would certainly be very convenient. But that’s not who God has called us to be. We are pioneers.
So, I’m excited to let you know that our third Junction Church campus location has been identified. Over the next two years, we will be planting a brand new Junction Church campus into Nottingham (just up the road!). I’ve had a love of this city for many years. Having previously lived there, I always knew in my heart that God would one day draw me back to complete some unfinished business. I guess this is it.
The point is…our vibe is distinctive and clear – positive, loving, go-getting, cheeky and faith-filled. We care very deeply about growing healthy campuses so that people can truly flourish. We also carry a grace to see God’s salvation every time we gather. In this respect, our track record speaks for itself.
An estimated 95% of Nottingham doesn’t go to church. Just think about that for a moment. 95% of an entire city is convinced that church is not for them. So as a local church, we are going to play our part in reaching out to the vast unchurched majority. I love it that God is already doing some amazing things through other churches in Nottingham, some of the leaders of which I know. We will work with them to bring God’s hope to the city.
I would love you to pray for God’s favour on us as we pioneer new ground. I already sense very strongly that God’s hand is upon us in this adventure. It will begin with Life Groups meeting around the city during 2018 and then we will officially launch the Junction Church Nottingham in September 2019.
